If you are heading to a late afternoon or evening Whitecaps game, concert, (or I guess Canucks...) this is a great route to get you some good drinks and food before the game, and then some options for post game celebration. Chinatown is a close enough walk and a quick skytrain from downtown, and definitely worth exploring for its unique restaurants and bars. For the Whitecaps specifically, It's about a 30 minute walk from Chinatown to the stadiums, and it's always a fun walk over while the rest of the locals cross the bridge or take the seawall after their own pre-game rituals.
First, we always get off the skytrain and head to The Boxcar, where you can get a Good Company and company, before picking one of their fantastic cocktails. To soak up some of that fun, it's worth ordering a slice from their neighbor, Mortadella and then wrapping up to head over the bridge to the game.
Post game, if you are looking for another bite to eat before heading off for more fun, I'd suggest a burger at Between 2 Buns.
Then, depending on your mood, Chinatown has lots of late night spots. If you are looking for cocktail centric bar with dark vibes and good music, you can head to Keefer Bar. If you are looking for something more upscale, maybe Bagheera or Bao Bei would suit your needs. If you are looking for a much younger scene, London Pub is your gateway to some pool, darts, and dancing. Or, if you're looking for a fun post-match rowdy crowd and a few pints of guiness, the Irish Heather has to be your stop.
